jump to recentWe all need some sunshine and mechanical keyboards in our timeline!
Here's my daily driver for the last 3,5 years or so. It's a custom built 60% keyboard by me, featuring my own hotswap PCB.
It's an "endgame" build where I tried to balance quality with affordability. It's a discrete and uncomplicated keyboard. And there's really nothing special about it, but the case is sound dampened, and the factory lubricated switches sounds and feels good to type on.
You can read more about it on my blog: https://hunden.linuxkompis.se/2024/06/07/my-keyboard-may-2024.html
What keyboard are you all using? I would love to see pictures of your keyboards!
I just restored my old GoToSocial instance. I now get this message when trying to login:
Unauthorized: password/email combination was incorrect: If you arrived at this error during a sign in/oauth flow, please try clearing your session cookies and signing in again; if problems persist, make sure you're using the correct credentials
It doesn't matter what web browser I'm using. I have tried clearing cookies etc.
What to do?

I don't know what to do with social media (the fediverse).
When I started out here almost a decade ago, it was a small and cozy place.
These days I only see posts about American politics and snowflake cancel culture. People are calling other people (people they don't agree with) for fascist, and then block whole instances for them being "fascist". What happened to things like communication, maturity and empathy?
I don't follow a lot of people these days. I mainly lurk on the federated timeline, which—unfortunately—mainly consist of posts in a language that I don't speak. Which is my own fault for joining an instance with a language that I don't speak. :D
Should I move back to Fosstodon? Or perhaps move to my own instance? Or perhaps just quit social media all together?
While I like Fosstodon, I don't like Mastodon. It's quite barebones in terms of features, while still managing to be quite bloated and difficult to run. I don't think that Mastodon is sustainable for the environment or the wallets for anyone hosting an instance (especially not the larger ones).
One thing that I didn't think of before joining this German instance is the fact that the federated timeline will also consist of mainly German posts. :D
Fosstodon.org seems to be a good Mastodon instance these days if you want to avoid anti-fascist fascists.

I've been using tiling window managers for almost 15 years, and I just now figured out a key detail about what I like about them.
It's consistency.
I have always had the web browser on the first workspace, the instant messaging client(s) on the second workspace, the web feed reader on the third workspace and so on. This meant that I could instantly switch to certain applications without thinking about it. It was all muscle memory.
However. When I've been using stacking window managers, I just used a single workspace for everything. Which was basically a recipe for pure chaos for my brain.
I've been using a stacking window manager, on and off, for almost a year now, and by making use of multiple workspaces and copying the same workflow (including using the same keybinding), it made everything instantly 100% better for me.
Go me.
Is it possible to convert Google Maps links to something useful for maps like Organic Maps, without having to use an app for it?

If a motherboard manufacture specify that the RAM <MODEL NAME>/16ME is compatible, does the same stick with another chip/dye(?), like the 16HD work as well?
I'm usually not this picky when choosing RAM for a build, but I'm going with ECC-RAM this time, and I want it to work when I spend money on expensive memory.
(Boosts are highly appreciated)

I can personally recommend them. I've been a customer for more than 4 years now.
(I have no affiliation with them. I get nothing for recommending them)
